AbsolutePoker.net has been running an online poker competition for some time now and it is about to come to an end. University students have been logging on in droves to compete in the Absolute Poker College Challenge (APCC). The Challenge is twelve week long tournament competitions that will see the winner earn their college tuition paid by AbsolutePoker. The contest has only three weeks left before the lucky winner is crowned.
Students all over the United States are trying to win the tuition as well as poker swag and technical gadgets, though the tuition is top on the player’s wish list. The competition is open only to University students who are playing Texas Hold’em in three major contests.
On May 11th the APCC Main Event will take place and offer $10,000 toward college tuition, a MacBook 160GB, a HP Business Note Book and an iPod Touch 32GB. The winner of the college tuition will have the $10,000 put toward one semester of their college education.
Players will also be automatically entered into the Player of the Year leader board competition where the winner will earn a MacBook and $3500. The current leader on the board is EAZY489 of Carnegie Mellon University.
The College Program Consultant of Absolute Poker, Matt Vengrin commented: “College students across America are telling us how much they love Absolute Poker’s free “Win Your Tuition” tournament. For little to no money down, these up-and-coming poker players can experience the excitement of participating in an online Hold’em competition, and with free tuition money, notebook computers and cash on the line, this year’s Absolute Poker College Challenge will deliver more of what strapped-for-cash students may need.”
AbsolutePoker.net also has a School of the Year leader board where players try and get their college to the top spot. This is a bonus competition and the top United States Universities will earn almost $10,000 in prizes.
