BodogPoker $100k Guarantee; Balla686 Routes Competition

Category: Bodog | Date: September 7th, 2008 | Written by admin |

BodogPoker hosted its regular $100,000 Guarantee last Sunday, attracting a field of 656 players who satellite their way in or paid the direct $100 + $9 buy-in. Marshall “Balla686” Trauernicht proved his skills that night by routing the competition to earn his largest online poker tournament cash to date of $23,600.

As the action dwindled to the final table, then further into heads-up play, it came down to the obvious skills of “Balla686” and “splisner” to battle it out for the top position. It didn’t take long for the cards to fall in Marshall “Balla686” Trauernicht’s favor, sending “spilsner” to the rails to claim the 1st place prize.

From the comfort of his computer in Springfield, Massachusetts, Marshall “Balla686” Trauernicht has pocketed a multitude of online poker tournament cashes, many in the 4-digit range and most at Bodog Poker, though this most recent victory is largest by far.

BodogPoker.com Sunday $100k Guarantee Final Table Results

1st - Balla686 ($23,600)
2nd - spilsner ($13,600)
3rd - syzygy3732 ($9,100)
4th - soggyvag2 ($7,000)
5th - Ugotdonedirty ($5,700)
6th - TimKansas ($4,500)
7th - TripleNet ($3,300)
8th - Hapa Haoli ($2,200)
9th - PwnasaurusX ($1,300)

It’s pretty easy math to figure out that the field of 656, at a $100 buy-in, only brought in $65,600 of the guaranteed prize pool, resulting in an overlay that forced BodogPoker to toss in the remaining $34,400 to cover the purse. BodogPoker has launched several promotional campaigns to bolster its poker tournament popularity - including a recent $250k GP to replace its regular weekly $100k, and the upcoming BodogPoker Open II in October 2008 - but the online poker room continues to struggle in the participation department.
