I had the opportunity recently to play some live poker. Played some tournaments as well as some cash games. I have some great stories but first, I have to show you the type of play I saw at $3/$6 tables.
Here is an hand example:
I have sat at this table for about an hour folding everything I see. Terrible looking hands and nothing hitting. Not a lot of folding other than me so at $1 and $3 blinds, I can wait for a hand and catch up fast. I did and A3 sooted from the blind turned a flush and KQs also turned a flush and I was up about $70 real fast.
Folded a few more hands when I get AJo in the BB. As per normal there are 7 limpers in the pot before it gets to me and I check hoping to flop something. Well, I did! Ten – Q – K rainbow! What a sight! I bet, no one folds anyway, and I get raised and 5 callers before it gets back to me! I just call, I mean it is the nuts!
Turn is a blank and puts 2 spades on the board. I bet again – get raised again and I three bet this time. Now, including me, there are three left. River is another spade, I bet…both call and the winner is the guy with 94 of spades!!!!!
Calls all those bets with a gut shot and hit runner runner!!!!!! I started laughing, couldn’t help it. I picked up my remaining chips and left the table. By now there was about three more laughing with me.
I always tell friends, you can play perfectly but you can never beat luck.
